SHENZHEN, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- China secured a spot in the women's doubles final while second seed Wang Zhiyi powered into the last four in women's singles at the 2026 BWF China Masters here on Friday.
China's top seeds Jia Yifan/Zhang Shuxian cruised past Chinese Taipei's Hsu Yin-hui/Lin Jhih-yun 21-12, 21-11, while Bao Lijing/Cao Zihan beat American duo Francesca Corbett/Jennie Gai 21-12, 21-15.
The two winners will meet in Saturday's semifinals, ensuring a Chinese representative in the final. The other final berth will be contested between two Japanese pairs.
In women's singles, China's Wang needed just 32 minutes to defeat Japan's Nozomi Okuhara 21-6, 21-10, securing her fifth consecutive victory over the former world champion.
Wang will next face another Japanese shuttler, Tomoka Miyazaki, in the semifinals. Top seed An Se-young of South Korea will take on Japan's Akane Yamaguchi in the other last-four clash.
Home favorite Weng Hongyang crashed out in the quarterfinals, stunned by Jason Gunawan of Hong Kong, China, 21-18, 21-13. Gunawan will next face Denmark's Anders Antonsen for a spot in the final.
In the other half of the men's singles draw, Lee Cheuk Yiu of Hong Kong, China, also progressed, setting up a semifinal clash with France's Christo Popov.
China claimed two semifinal spots in mixed doubles. Top seeds Feng Yanzhe/Huang Dongping battled past Chinese Taipei's Ye Hong-wei/Nicole Gonzales Chan 21-10, 15-21, 21-12, while Zhu Yijun/Li Qian edged past another Chinese Taipei pair 24-22, 21-12.
In men's doubles, local pair He Jiting/Ren Xiangyu rallied past Malaysia's Soh Wooi Yik/Aaron Tai 21-16, 17-21, 21-16 to book a semifinal berth.
Semifinals across all five events will take place on Saturday. ■
