MADRID, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho on Thursday gave a warning to central defender Raul Asencio about his behaviour.
Mourinho gave his message while speaking to the press a day after it was revealed that Asencio had tested positive for drink-driving with almost four-times the legal permitted limits of alcohol in his blood while in the Canary Islands in mid-August.
The news comes with the 23-year-old still awaiting trial for another legal case in which he faces charges of distributing an explicit video of a minor without her consent.
When asked about the issue in his conference ahead of Real Madrid's La Liga game away to Betis on Friday night, Mourinho was clear on his opinion.
"We all make mistakes, but when they accumulate... that's another story," Mourinho said.
The coach advised the player that he had a duty to behave both on and off the football pitch.
"A Real Madrid player is a Real Madrid player 24 hours a day. What you do off the pitch can damage your reputation and the club's. I'm not happy," he said, adding that "the club has opened an investigation, and in the meantime, he's a Real Madrid player." ■
