MEXICO CITY, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Mexico's America has reached a deal with Levante to sign Spanish midfielder Carlos Alvarez, both clubs said on Wednesday.
The 23-year-old, who represented Spain at youth level, agreed to personal terms after Levante reportedly accepted a seven-million US-dollar transfer fee.
"Welcome to the biggest club in Mexico, Carlos Alvarez," America said in a social media post.
Levante head coach Hector Rodas confirmed earlier in the day that the playmaker had verbally agreed to join the Mexico City club.
Alvarez made 105 appearances for Levante, scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists, following his 2023 move from Sevilla.
America currently leads the Liga MX Apertura standings with five wins from its first six games of the campaign. ■
