CAIRO, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, Egypt and China are joining hands to build a better future based on a long-term vision and make their relationship a model for building a community with a shared future for humanity, a senior Egyptian official has said.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has concluded his state visit to Egypt on Wednesday. Osama El-Gohary, assistant to the Prime Minister of Egypt and chairman of the Information and Decision Support Center, said Xi's visit carries significance beyond bilateral relations.
"Head-of-state diplomacy provides strategic vision and political guidance for the development of Egypt-China relations," he said in a written interview with Xinhua, perceiving close communication between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Xi as an important driving force behind the growth of bilateral relations in recent years.
Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 70 years ago, the two sides have upheld mutual respect and equality, respected each other's development paths, and pursued mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, said the official.
"The political mutual trust accumulated over 70 years has not only provided a strong basis for building a better future, but also laid a solid foundation for a dynamic partnership capable of meeting challenges," he said.
Looking back on the development of bilateral relations, El-Gohary said Egypt-China cooperation has shown strong adaptability and creativity, with its scope continuing to expand. Despite frequent geopolitical conflicts and growing economic uncertainty around the world, the two countries have remained firmly committed to maintaining and developing their bilateral relations amid an ever-evolving global landscape, he said.
"With this valuable strategic resolve, both sides have strengthened consultations and coordination, and continuously expanded the scope of cooperation, which is particularly valuable in an era of uncertainty," the official said.
El-Gohary said the strategic guidance of head-of-state diplomacy is helping the two sides turn political consensus into more practical joint projects and expand areas of cooperation.
Egypt was the first Arab and African country to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. El-Gohary said the two countries have maintained coordination on international and regional issues and are playing an increasingly important role in Arab-China, Africa-China and South-South cooperation.
He described Egypt as a potential bridge linking China with the Arab world and Africa, while viewing China as an important partner in Egypt's drive for development and modernization.
"Deepening the partnership between the two countries can generate positive effects beyond the bilateral framework and contribute to regional development, stability and cooperation," El-Gohary said. ■
