JERUSALEM, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese automaker Chery topped Israel's car market in the first eight months of 2026, according to figures released by the Israel Vehicle Importers Association on Wednesday.
Chery, which offers full-electric, gasoline and hybrid cars from its Omoda, Jaecoo, Tiggo, Fx, and Arrizo series, sold 53,389 units between January and August.
Japanese car manufacturer Toyota ranked second with 21,788 units, ahead of South Korea's Hyundai with 20,725, the data showed.
Chinese brands accounted for the largest share of passenger car imports into Israel during the period, totaling 103,849 units.
In electric car sales, Chinese models accounted for more than 75 percent, with 20,581 units handed.
Chinese automakers Xpeng and BYD Auto led Israel's electric vehicle market, selling 4,011 and 3,184 units, respectively. U.S. automaker Tesla ranked third with 3,162 units sold. ■
