PHNOM PENH, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's working-age population reached approximately 13.1 million individuals, comprising 6.8 million women and 6.3 million men, said the results of Cambodia Labor Force Survey Results 2025 released by the National Institute of Statistics of the Ministry of Planning on Wednesday.

The working-age population remains predominantly rural, with 7.8 million residents compared to 5.3 million in urban centers, the results said.

The national labor force participation rate stood at about 72 percent, as 28 percent of the working-age population (roughly 3.7 million people) remains outside the labor force.

The overall employment rate for individuals aged 15 and older was recorded at 69 percent (approximately 9.1 million people), the results showed. The service sector has emerged as the primary driver of employment at 43 percent, followed by industry at 29.4 percent and agriculture at 27.6 percent.

The unemployment rate stood at around 3 percent, representing more than 340,000 individuals.

The average monthly wage for primary employment is 300 U.S. dollars, with a gender wage disparity of 315 dollars for men versus 280 dollars for women.

Minister of Planning Bin Trachhai said that the survey delivers high-quality, reliable, and standardized statistical data on Cambodia's labor market dynamics. ■
