MEXICO CITY, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Uruguay international defender Sebastian Caceres has parted ways with Mexico's America to join Spanish side Celta Vigo, both clubs said on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old agreed to a four-year contract after a deal was struck on the last day of La Liga's summer transfer window.
"Thank you for the titles, your professionalism, and for the great history we wrote together within the club," America said in a statement on its official website.
Caceres made 209 appearances across all competitions for the Mexico City club, whom he joined from Liverpool Montevideo in 2020.
The central defender has been capped 27 times for Uruguay and was a member of the Celeste squad at this year's FIFA World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada. ■
