JERUSALEM, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Israel international defender Roy Revivo has left Maccabi Tel Aviv and signed a four-year contract with Spanish La Liga club Elche, both clubs announced on Tuesday.
The clubs did not disclose the transfer fee, but Israeli media reported the deal is worth 2.5 million euros, with Revivo set to earn around 500,000 euros per season.
The 23-year-old left-back made a total of 136 appearances for Maccabi. Despite his defensive role, Revivo scored 12 goals and provided 29 assists, and won two Israeli Premier League titles, one State Cup, two League Cups and two Israeli Super Cups. He has also made 20 appearances for the Israel national team.
"Roy Revivo stands out for his ability to cover the entire flank, his speed and his involvement in attacking play," Elche said.
He is the son of Haim Revivo, one of Israel's all-time great players, who played for teams including Celta Vigo, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray and scored 15 goals in 67 appearances for the national team.
Israeli media reported that former Chinese Super League player Yahav Gurfinkel is the leading candidate to replace Revivo as left-back.
Gurfinkel spent two seasons with China's Chengdu Rongcheng in 2024 and 2025 before joining Cypriot side AEK Larnaca. ■
