ADEN, Yemen -- Yemen's government said Tuesday that the spokesman for the Islamic State (IS) terror group was killed in a joint counterterrorism operation involving Yemeni forces and special forces from the Saudi-led coalition.
The state-run Saba TV channel, citing the Central State Security Agency, reported that Abu Hudhayfah al-Ansari, a senior IS figure and the group's official spokesman, was killed during an operation that had initially sought to capture him. (Yemen-IS Spokesman-Killing)

NEW YORK -- The U.S. government released details of its oil deal with Venezuela in a fact sheet posted on the White House website on Monday, after President Donald Trump announced the agreement.
Under the agreement, Venezuelan interim authorities have granted North American Blue Energy Partners (NABEP), a privately held company and the country's second-largest private oil producer, 100-year concessions for 17 oil fields with proven reserves of approximately 65 billion barrels. BISHKEK -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday put forward a four-point proposal at the 26th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek.
In his speech at the summit, Xi said this year marks the 25th founding anniversary of the SCO. He pointed out that 25 years ago, safeguarding sovereignty, security and development interests became a shared consensus among countries in the region in the face of the profound lessons of the Cold War, the real threat posed by the "three evil forces," as well as the strong aspirations of people in various countries for peace and development. MOSCOW -- Russia has warned of possible countermeasures over Japan's deployment of U.S. Typhon missile systems, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Tuesday.
"The Japanese Embassy was clearly informed that the deployment of this type of weaponry on Japanese territory, even under the pretext of military exercises, is absolutely unacceptable, as it poses a threat to Russia's security," Zakharova told a briefing on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, adding that Moscow had warned of retaliatory measures to ensure national security.
