DAMASCUS, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- Four members of Syria's internal security forces were injured on Monday while repelling attacks on security positions in the western countryside of southern Syria's Sweida province, local media reported.
Syria's state-run Al-Ikhbariya TV said groups of "outlaws" attacked security positions, prompting clashes with internal security forces.
Four security personnel were injured during the confrontations, while casualties were also reported among the attackers, the report said.
The groups also attempted to target the village of al-Mansoura with drones, the report said, without immediately providing information about possible casualties or damage from the drone attack.
The latest violence came amid persistent tensions in the predominantly Druze province, where intermittent clashes have occurred between security forces and armed groups despite a ceasefire that took effect in July last year. ■
