The year 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
Over the past 25 years, the SCO has grown from six founding members into a 27-nation family spanning Asia, Europe and Africa, while expanding its focus from regional security to more than 50 areas of cooperation. Today, the SCO has become a comprehensive regional organization with the world’s widest geographical coverage, the largest population, and enormous development potential.
Having gone through trials and tribulations over the past 25 years, the SCO has emerged from the banks of the Huangpu River to take its place on the world stage. The SCO family has continued to expand the scope of its cooperation, while its international influence has been rising steadily.
