BEIJING, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- In the face of tragic disasters, the Chinese side rejects malicious speculation that has no factual basis, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said on Monday.
Spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks at a daily news briefing in response to some foreign media's inappropriate remarks regarding the causes of the severe mudslide disaster, which occurred recently at the Gyirong-Rasuwa border crossing between China and Nepal.
"We noted that experts and official institutions of China and Nepal have made some assessment on the cause of the disaster," Guo said.
"According to their analysis, the mudslide was triggered by a collapse of a high-altitude glacier in Nepal," he added. ■
