KAMPALA, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Ugandan female marathon runner and 2018 Commonwealth Games gold medalist Stella Chesang is set to compete in the Sydney Marathon in Australia on Sunday.
The race will start on Miller Street in North Sydney and conclude at the Sydney Opera House.
"I am very excited to be participating in my second marathon this year. After winning the marathon in Japan earlier this year, I am very motivated to keep performing well and improving my times," Chesang told Xinhua in a phone interview.
Chesang won the Osaka Women's Marathon in January in a time of 2:19:31. The race is a World Athletics Platinum Label marathon.
The 2018 Commonwealth Games gold medalist in the women's 10,000 meters said she has been working to adapt to marathon running after moving up from shorter-distance races.
"I have adjusted well and I have been training seriously ahead of the TCS Sydney Marathon," added Chesang. ■
