BERLIN -- Two people were killed in a violent incident at a school in Gosen-Neu Zittau in the eastern German state of Brandenburg on Thursday, and a male suspect has been detained, German media reported.
According to the local newspaper Maerkische Allgemeine Zeitung, one of the victims is an 18-year-old secondary school student, while the other is believed to be a 30-year-old man who died trying to stop the perpetrator. (Germany-Accident)

KATHMANDU -- As many as 332 bodies have been recovered from flood-hit areas of Nepal as of 3:50 p.m. local time Thursday, the Nepal Police said in a statement.
Police personnel have been evacuating families from flood-risk areas to safe locations and conducting search and rescue operations in coordination with other government agencies and local residents, the statement said. (Nepal-Flood-Deaths)

JEDDAH -- Former Mauritanian Foreign Minister Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed was elected secretary-general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) by consensus on Thursday, succeeding Hissein Brahim Taha.

DOHA -- Qatari and Iranian foreign ministers discussed on Thursday the establishment of a temporary shipping corridor through the Strait of Hormuz and the implementation of a joint project to clear the strait of mines, according to a statement by the Qatari Foreign Ministry.
