BEIRUT, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese Economy and Trade Minister Amer Bisat and visiting Minister of Foreign Trade of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Thursday to enhance trade and investment cooperation.

The MoU aims to serve the shared interests of Lebanon and the UAE and further strengthen bilateral relations, according to a statement.

The two ministers said the agreement represents a practical step toward translating the longstanding historical and economic ties between the two countries into greater cooperation.

Al Zeyoudi described his visit to Lebanon as "successful," saying it provided an opportunity to explore new sectors and opportunities for trade and investment cooperation.

Bisat said the MoU reflects a shared commitment to elevating Lebanese-UAE relations toward a deeper and more integrated economic partnership.

Lebanon has significant potential and capabilities that can be transformed into sustainable growth through reforms, strengthening the role of the private sector and expanding partnerships with Arab countries, particularly the UAE, he added.
