SHENZHEN, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Chinese tech giant Huawei and HP on Wednesday announced the completion of a multi-year global patent cross-licensing agreement, granting the U.S. tech firm access to specific Wi-Fi-related patents owned by Huawei.

Industry insiders view this intellectual property licensing collaboration as a testament to Huawei's innovation capabilities and core technological strength.

"Huawei is committed to independent innovation in frontier information and communications technology (ICT) fields," said Alan Fan, Huawei's chief intellectual property officer. "Through patent licensing, we share our innovations with the industry, delivering advanced technological experiences to consumers worldwide, particularly in standardized technologies."

By the end of 2025, Huawei had signed over 260 patent license agreements with major ICT manufacturers in the United States, Europe, Japan, the Republic of Korea and other key markets, with 34 new agreements added in 2025 alone.

More than 1.2 billion consumer electronic devices had been licensed under Huawei's Wi-Fi-related patents as of the end of 2024.

Huawei's patent licensing revenue reached approximately 630 million U.S. dollars in 2024, according to sources with the company.
