TOKYO, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks ended higher Wednesday, driven by dip-buying in heavyweight technology shares.
The benchmark Nikkei stock index, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average, ended up 405.73 points, or 0.62 percent, from Tuesday at 66,262.16.
The broader Topix index, meanwhile, finished 17.35 points, or 0.42 percent, higher at 4,111.02.
The Nikkei stock index traded lower at the outset, but later moved into positive territory as some heavyweight technology shares were bought back ahead of chip giant Nvidia Corp.'s earnings release after the close of trading in New York, analysts said.
Meanwhile, a decline in crude oil futures, which eased inflation concerns following reports of signs of improvement in the situation in the Middle East, supported a broad range of sectors. ■
