UNITED NATIONS, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- UN humanitarians said on Monday that partners reported deadly weekend airstrikes in Gaza and clashes in the West Bank claimed civilian lives, including a child.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said three UN warehouses in Deir al-Balah were damaged in an airstrike on an adjacent location. All three sustained damage, one of them significantly.
"Civilians and civilian objects, including humanitarian facilities, must always be protected," the office said.
In the West Bank, OCHA said that Israeli forces shot and killed another child in Askar Camp in the Nablus governorate, during a raid where local partners and medical sources reported that Palestinians threw stones and Israeli forces fired live ammunition and tear gas canisters.
The office said that in the Silwan area of East Jerusalem, three Palestinians were killed and others were injured on Sunday during a family dispute. Humanitarian partners said that two of them were killed by Israeli forces who raided the neighborhood to intervene and reportedly fired live ammunition and tear gas canisters.
"In a law enforcement context, lethal force must be a last resort," OCHA said.
Humanitarian partners reported that following the release of videos showing a stabbing attack against an Israeli man in the Jericho area on Sunday, Israeli forces raided the nearby Palestinian village of Al Auja, where they arrested a child suspect.
"During the raid, Israeli forces stepped up movement restrictions in the area, forced the closure of shops, and broke into several houses, where they damaged doors, furniture and equipment," OCHA said. ■
