RIJEKA, Croatia, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Germany's Emily Deml and Russia's Miroslav Kiselev claimed the two titles on offer at the 2026 World Aquatics Junior Diving Championships here on Sunday.

Deml, 18, won the girls' Group A 1m springboard with 411.05 points on her junior worlds debut. Canada's Lila Stewart took silver with 398.80 points, while Mexico's Rut Paez finished third with 389.25.

Deml, who won her second consecutive junior European title in the 1m event in June, said the junior world title ranked higher "because the field was a lot more competitive and harder to beat."

In the boys' Group B 10m platform, 14-year-old Kiselev took the lead in the third round after scoring a competition-high 85.80 points for his back three-and-a-half somersaults, and went on to win with 454.75.

China's Kan Zilong climbed from fourth to second with his final dive, a back two-and-a-half somersaults with one-and-a-half twists that earned 81.60 points. He finished with 443.80, edging Australia's Hayden Brinckley by 3.05 points.

Kiselev said he had not expected the result given the strong field. "I tried to make beautiful dives, so everything was clear," he said.

Monday's program features the boys' synchronized platform, girls' Group A 3m springboard and mixed team event.
