SINGAPORE, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Singapore has provisionally allocated 200 megawatts (MW) of new data center capacity to four operators, as the city-state seeks to expand its artificial intelligence infrastructure while keeping the sector's energy use sustainable.

The Economic Development Board (EDB) and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) said in a joint statement on Friday that they have allocated 50MW each to Digital Realty, Equinix, Keppel Data Centres and ST Telemedia Global Data Centres under the second Data Centre Call for Application.

Singapore launched the call for applications in December 2025 and received more than 20 proposals from local and global players.

The four awarded operators have committed to exceeding the minimum sustainability requirements, with more than 50 percent of their data center capacity to be powered by green energy sources.

The facilities will also adopt advanced energy-efficiency technologies, including liquid cooling and 100 percent energy-efficient information technology equipment, and are required to meet Singapore's Green Mark Data Centres Platinum Certification.

The EDB and the IMDA said they will review the need for another application exercise in 18 to 24 months to support Singapore's strategic priorities.
