ZAGREB, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Croatian police announced on Friday that two people had been arrested for starting fires in two separate cases in the country.

According to the Sibenik-Knin County Police Administration, a 28-year-old Canadian woman, together with a 30-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, also Canadian nationals, set an open fire on Aug. 17. The fire was extinguished the same day thanks to the swift response by local residents and firefighters.

The 28-year-old suspect was arrested and handed over to the detention supervisor of the police administration, and a criminal complaint was filed with the State Attorney's Office in Sibenik. The police are searching for the other two suspects.

In a separate incident, Dubrovnik police said they had arrested a 38-year-old man suspected of starting a fire on Aug. 12 in Dubrovnik.

Croatia has faced a series of wildfires along its Adriatic coast this summer. On Monday, police arrested four people for starting fires at 10 locations in Zadar County.
