YANGON, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar police seized 24.15 million stimulant tablets in central Myanmar's Mandalay and Magway regions, The Mirror reported on Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotics police searched two vehicles in Minhla township, Magway region on Aug. 12 and seized 9.75 million stimulant tablets, the report said.
Based on the investigation, police searched compounds in Pyigyitagon township in Mandalay region on Aug. 13, and seized another 14.4 million stimulant tablets, it said.
Nine suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, while some others remained at large, the report said.
The investigation showed that the drugs were transported from Shan state to Magway region before being further transported to Rakhine state, it said.
The suspects have been charged under Myanmar's Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and further investigation is underway, the report said. ■
