SINGAPORE, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Singapore government has worked with more than 20 partners, including Accenture, Microsoft and J.P. Morgan, to curate almost 2,000 job and training opportunities for fresh graduates and mid-career professionals seeking to move into technology roles, Minister for Digital Development and Information Josephine Teo said on Thursday.
The opportunities cover artificial intelligence (AI) and data, cybersecurity and software engineering, where manpower demand continues to grow, she said in an opening address at a tech forum.
"For those already in the workforce, AI bilingualism offers a way forward," she said, adding that it recognizes that professional knowledge and AI skills are complementary.
As AI becomes better at producing code, analysis and content, she also sees the premium on human judgement will rise.
According to her, the government's national AI missions will initially focus on advanced manufacturing, financial services, healthcare and connectivity, sectors that together account for more than 40 percent of Singapore's gross domestic product, and provide jobs to hundreds of thousands of Singaporeans. ■
