MELBOURNE, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- China remains Papua New Guinea's largest and most important trading partner, and the PNG government prepares to take the country's economic relations with China to a new level, PNG Minister for International Trade and Investment Richard Maru said on Wednesday in Port Moresby.

Maru made the remarks while speaking at the official launch of anchor sponsors for the inaugural Papua New Guinea-China Business Forum and Trade Expo in the PNG capital.

"As an economy and as a country, our future is absolutely linked to China," Post Courier, one of PNG's major newspapers, quoted him as saying.

Maru said PNG must expand its economic relationships, attract new investment and create industries capable of generating employment and sustainable economic growth.
