SHIJIAZHUANG, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Eight people were killed and three others injured in a fire at a ground-floor commercial outlet in north China's Hebei Province early Thursday, local authorities said.
The fire broke out at about 3:40 a.m. at the outlet in Haigang District of Qinhuangdao City, the district government said. Firefighters, police officers, and emergency management and medical personnel quickly arrived at the site for rescue.
The fire was extinguished at 4:30 a.m., it said. The three injured have been sent to hospital for treatment and are in stable condition.
Further investigation into the fire is underway. ■
