DUBAI, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- The air defense systems of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) detected two ballistic missiles launched from Iran toward the country, the UAE ministry of defense said Tuesday.
The ministry said the first missile fell outside the UAE's territorial waters, while the second fell within the country's territorial waters.
It said the country remained on high alert and fully prepared to deal with any threats and confront anything that could undermine the country's security, sovereignty and stability.
Earlier in the day, the ministry said the UAE's air defense systems had detected a missile threat toward the country, urging citizens to follow warnings and updates issued through official channels.
There was no immediate comment from Iran. ■
