MOSCOW, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Russian air defense systems shot down 316 Ukrainian drones over the course of Monday, the Defense Ministry said.
"Between 08:00 and 20:00 Moscow time on Monday, on-duty air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 316 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones," the ministry said in a statement.
It was noted that the drones were shot down over the territories of Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Kursk, Oryol, Rostov, Smolensk, Moscow and Crimea, and over the Black Sea.
Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said that four drones targeting Moscow were shot down. "Emergency service specialists are working at the debris-fall site," he added. ■
