SINGAPORE, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's non-oil domestic exports (NODX) rose 24.2 percent year-on-year in July, extending a 20.8 percent increase in June, Enterprise Singapore said on Monday.
Electronic NODX surged 112 percent, following a 105.1 percent increase in June, driven by robust demand related to artificial intelligence (AI).
Non-electronic NODX fell 2.3 percent, following a 2.8 percent decline in June. The drop was led by pharmaceuticals, which declined from a high base a year earlier, followed by petrochemicals and food preparations.
Non-oil re-exports rose 51.3 percent year-on-year in July, following a 60.3 percent increase in June. The growth was primarily driven by electronics, which rose 75.2 percent, while non-electronic re-exports increased 18.8 percent.
Total merchandise trade rose 38.6 percent in July, easing from a 49.3 percent increase in June, with both exports and imports recording growth. ■
