BUENOS AIRES, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- A first-half goal from Alexander Machado gave Banfield a 1-0 away win over Racing in Argentina's Clausura tournament on Friday.
Machado put his side ahead with a close-range header and Banfield cruised thereafter to clinch its second win of the campaign while Racing slipped to its third straight defeat.
"We're going through a tough time and football can do that," Racing head coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda told reporters. "We just have to know how to get through it and be prepared for our next match."
Banfield is now ninth in Zone B with seven points and Racing is 12th, three points further back.
Racing will host Buenos Aires rival Boca Juniors in its next league outing on August 23, while Banfield will visit Newell's Old Boys. ■
