BUDAPEST, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Kristina Chekhanova and Anastasiia Sidorina triumphed in the women's duet technical as Russia claimed its fourth gold medal at the 2026 World Aquatics Junior Artistic Swimming Championships on Thursday.

The pair scored 300.1509 points for their routine themed "Dance of the Phantom Lady," finishing more than 10 points clear of China's He Zhien and Zhou Kunyi, who took silver with 289.7367 points. Spain's Naia Alvarez and Daniela Suarez finished third on 289.3125.

It was Chekhanova's second gold medal of the championships after she had helped Russia win the team technical title on the opening day.

China's He had already collected a silver medal in women's solo technical on Wednesday. Speaking about competing in multiple events at the championships, the 19-year-old said she hoped to "gain all-round experience and improve [herself]."

Zhou was also in action in the women's solo free preliminary on Thursday, advancing to Sunday's final in third place. Russia's Ekaterina Shtatnova topped the preliminary standings, followed by Alvarez.

Zhou and He will also compete together in the women's duet free event.

After two days of competition, Russia has swept all four gold medals so far. China has collected three silver medals, while Spain has one silver and three bronze medals.

China's Chen Keyu and Jin Yanxiao will compete in the mixed duet technical final on Friday. Zhou and He will feature in the women's duet free preliminary, while China will also contest the team free preliminary.

The World Aquatics Junior Artistic Swimming Championships is held from August 12 to 16, featuring 11 events. China has sent a 14-member squad to compete in all events.
