KABUL, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has highlighted positive developments in Afghanistan over the past five years, the official Bakhtar News Agency reported Friday.
UNAMA identified several positive developments, including improved security, a ban on poppy cultivation, opportunities for reconstruction and development, and expanded economic cooperation with regional countries, said the report.
UNAMA called on the international community to maintain engagement with Afghanistan and support its long-term development, and stressed that sustained international engagement is important for maintaining stability and creating favorable conditions for progress and development in the country.
The mission also emphasized the importance of continued cooperation with Afghanistan to support economic development and address the country's long-term needs. ■
