HANOI, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- U.S. company SpaceX has begun taking orders for its Starlink satellite internet service in Vietnam, local media VnExpress reported Thursday.

The service is now available for online orders with no contract required, offering a 30-day trial and equipment delivery within one to two weeks, according to the report.

Residential customers can subscribe to Starlink plans starting at about 1.13 million Vietnamese dong (about 44.2 U.S. dollars) per month, while business plans are charged based on data usage, with hardware purchased separately from about 8.65 million Vietnamese dong.

Licensed by Vietnam's Ministry of Science and Technology in February, Starlink will initially operate with four ground gateway stations and up to 600,000 user terminals, providing broadband connectivity at sea, in the air and in remote or sparsely populated areas where fixed-line and mobile networks are difficult to access.
