HONG KONG, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong has sweltered through a prolonged heatwave, with maximum temperatures reaching 33 degrees Celsius or higher for nine consecutive days as of Thursday, according to the Hong Kong Observatory.
The observatory forecast that the high temperature weather will be alleviated, as areas of thundery showers gradually edge closer to the coast.
Occasional showers and squally thunderstorms are expected on Thursday night and Friday.
The observatory advised the public to pay attention to the latest weather information and be aware of the weather before going to work or school. ■
