BEIJING, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Qiang has signed a State Council decree publicizing a decision to revise and repeal certain administrative regulations as the country's landmark Ecological and Environmental Code is set to take effect on Saturday.
The State Council will revise 12 regulations, including those on the national census of pollution sources and environmental monitoring, to ensure they align with the provisions in the new code.
Another three administrative regulations will be revoked to meet the new requirements for advancing high-quality development and ecological progress.
The move is to ensure a coherent regulatory framework with consistent and well-coordinated rules for ecological and environmental protection.
The decision will come into effect on Saturday.
The Ecological and Environmental Code was adopted by China's top legislature in March. The 1,242-article Code has five chapters, covering areas including pollution control, ecological protection, and green and low-carbon development.
The Code is aligned with China's pledges to peak carbon emissions before 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality before 2060. ■
