GENEVA, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced Thursday that it has informed IOC-recognized International Federations (IFs) of the process for the disciplines of each sport to be considered by the IOC as candidate disciplines for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.
International Federations responsible for disciplines included in the Brisbane 2032 Host Contract may propose one additional discipline for consideration.
Other IOC-recognized IFs may be eligible if their discipline was included in the Tokyo 2020, Paris 2024 or LA28 Olympic programs through an Organizing Committee sports proposal.
The 146th IOC Session in June has approved the methodology for the new evaluation program process, while the Olympic Program Working Group noted that the processes of inclusion of additional sports in the three Olympic Games "involved detailed analysis and review by the IOC, providing a strong foundation of information for the Brisbane 2032 evaluation process".
IOC also announced that the approach is specific to Brisbane 2032 "due to the existing timeline", and will be reassessed by the Olympic Program Working Group for future editions.
The Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee also has the opportunity to propose additional disciplines to the IOC.
The Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games will take place from July 23 to August 8, with the Paralympic Games taking place from August 24 to September 5. ■
