HANOI, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam Airlines Group will add 60,000 seats, bringing its total capacity to nearly 725,000 seats across its flight network to meet rising travel demand during the upcoming National Day holiday, the Vietnam News Agency reported Tuesday.
The group, comprising the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines, and Vietnam Air Services Company, will operate more than 3,600 flights during the period, up 25 percent from the same period last year, according to the report.
The additional capacity will mainly serve routes linking the capital city Hanoi and the southern hub Ho Chi Minh City with other major destinations, the report added.
Vietnam will mark its 81st National Day on Sept. 2 this year. Under a plan issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, civil servants and state employees will have a five-day holiday from Aug. 29 to Sept. 2. ■
