RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Cruzeiro struck two late goals en route to a 3-1 home win over Mirassol in Brazil's Serie A on Sunday.
Joao Marcelo gave the hosts an early lead with a low finish after Bruno Rodrigues' headed pass.
The visitors equalized through Reinaldo da Silva, who converted a 27th-minute penalty after a Lucas Romero hand ball.
Kaio Jorge restored Cruzeiro's lead with a 76th-minute strike and Wesley put the result beyond doubt by angling a shot into the far corner after combining with Lucas Villalba.
The result leaves Cruzeiro fifth in the 20-team standings with 33 points, 15 behind leader Palmeiras. Mirassol is 15th, 10 points further back.
Elsewhere in Brazil's Serie A on Sunday, Flamengo secured a 2-0 home win over Vitoria, Corinthians won 2-0 at Bragantino, Athletico Paranaense eased to a 2-0 win at Santos, Vasco da Gama drew 0-0 at Bahia and Palmeiras was held to a goalless home draw by Internacional. ■
