YEREVAN, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- A new artificial intelligence (AI) factory opened in Armenia's Hrazdan on Saturday, marking the launch of the first phase of a project developed by Firebird, a U.S.-based AI company, Armenpress reported.
The total investment in the two-phase project is expected to reach 5 billion U.S. dollars upon completion.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan described the launch as a significant event for the country.
The factory is powered by NVIDIA accelerated computing and Dell Technologies' high-performance AI infrastructure.
NVIDIA said Firebird plans to deploy more than 70,000 NVIDIA Rubin and Blackwell GPUs and 300 megawatts of AI infrastructure capacity in Armenia by the end of 2027, as part of efforts to accelerate the country's development as a center for AI research, advanced computing and innovation. ■
