BUENOS AIRES, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Alex Arce scored twice as Independiente Rivadavia rose to third in Zone B of Argentina's Clausura tournament standings on Friday with a 2-1 home win over Estudiantes Rio Cuarto.
Arce converted a 71st-minute penalty before doubling his side's lead with a composed finish on the counterattack.
Gabriel Alanis pulled a late goal back, but Independiente held on for its second win of the campaign.
The result leaves Independiente with seven points, two behind leaders Argentinos Juniors and three ahead of 12th-placed Estudiantes.
In Friday's only other Argentine top-flight fixture, Colombia international midfielder Jaminton Campaz scored an 80th-minute winner as Rosario Central edged to a 2-1 home win over Aldosivi. ■
