SYDNEY, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- A teenager has been hospitalized after he was shot in a suspected targeted attack in western Sydney on Thursday night.
A police statement on Friday said that officers were called to reports of a shooting in the western Sydney suburb of Greenacre around 9 p.m. local time on Thursday and were told on arrival that an 18-year-old man had been shot twice in the chest before being driven from the scene.
He was located by emergency services and taken to hospital by paramedics.
The vehicle the victim was traveling in was seized by police for forensic examination and a second vehicle believed to be linked to the shooting was found alight in a nearby suburb in the early hours of Friday morning.
Local media reported that police believe the attack was targeted and are investigating whether it was linked to organized crime.
Police called for anyone with information to contact investigators. ■
