CAIRO, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on Thursday stressed the need to intensify strategic consultations and political coordination to preserve regional stability, the Egyptian presidency said in a statement.
At a meeting in New Alamein City on Egypt's northern coast, the two sides discussed the latest developments in the region.
Sisi reiterated Egypt's support for Bahrain and for all measures it takes to safeguard its security and stability, asserting that Bahrain's security is an integral part of Egypt's national security.
The king of Bahrain expressed appreciation for Egypt's support for the kingdom's security and stability.
He also emphasized the importance of continued coordination between the two countries to address the challenges facing Arab states, avoid escalation, and achieve stability in the Middle East.
The two leaders stressed the need to resolve crises through peaceful means, and to make every effort to prevent escalation and bring wars and conflicts to an end.
Regarding the situation in Gaza, they reaffirmed the need for all parties to abide by the agreement to halt the war in the Strip, ensure the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, and create the conditions necessary for early recovery and reconstruction efforts. ■
