PHNOM PENH, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian authorities cracked down on 112 human trafficking and sexual exploitation cases during the first half of 2026, marking a 13 percent increase year-on-year.
A report released Thursday by the National Committee for Counter Trafficking revealed that law enforcement arrested 169 suspects, including 34 foreigners, between January and June.
"The operations successfully rescued 581 victims, including 333 females and 175 minors under the age of 18," the report said.
According to the report, the human trafficking cases were primarily linked to forced labor, online fraud, illegal employment, and illegal immigration, among others.
Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sar Sokha, who is also chairman of the National Committee for Counter Trafficking, instructed authorities at all levels to deepen cooperation to strictly investigate and eliminate trafficking networks.
He emphasized the Southeast Asian country's strict commitment to wiping out human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and cyber scams to protect human rights, dignity, and social justice. ■
