BUENOS AIRES, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Veteran striker Enner Valencia is close to joining Boca Juniors after parting ways with Mexico's Pachuca, according to widespread media reports on Wednesday.
The 36-year-old is expected to arrive in Argentina this weekend to sign an 18-month contract with the Buenos Aires club.
Valencia, Ecuador's all-time leading scorer with 49 goals in 109 international appearances, became a free agent after ending his second spell at Pachuca in July.
He was part of the Ecuador squad that reached the last 32 of the FIFA World Cup before losing to co-hosts Mexico in July.
Boca is currently sixth in Argentina's 15-team Group A standings with four points from the first three games of the season. ■
