YAOUNDE, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- At least three people were killed on Wednesday after heavy rains triggered a landslide in the Mbende neighborhood of Limbe, a coastal town in Cameroon's Southwest Region, local authorities and police said.
Officials said the downpour caused a house to collapse in Mbende, with rescue teams recovering three bodies from the debris.
The rains also caused flooding in parts of Limbe, leaving several roads impassable for pedestrians and vehicles, according to police.
The Limbe City Council said it is working to mitigate further risks in the affected areas.
The incident comes as Cameroon's meteorological agency warned of above-average rainfall and a high likelihood of flooding and landslides. ■
