HANOI, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- A father and his 12-year-old son died from smoke inhalation after a fire broke out at a house in Vietnam's southern hub Ho Chi Minh City early Thursday morning, local daily VnExpress reported.
The blaze erupted at around 4 a.m. on the ground floor of a two-story house with a floor area of more than 120 square meters in Binh Loi Trung ward.
At the time of the incident, the homeowner, his wife and their son were inside the house. The wife managed to escape through the front door.
The father and son, who suffered severe smoke inhalation, were rushed to a nearby hospital but were pronounced dead upon arrival, said the report.
