BEIJING, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- China's National Development and Reform Commission said Wednesday it has allocated 50 million yuan (about 7.36 million U.S. dollars) from the central budget to support post-disaster recovery in northwest China's Shaanxi Province, which was recently hit by severe floods.

The funds will be used primarily for emergency restoration of damaged infrastructure including roads and water conservancy facilities, as well as public service facilities such as schools and hospitals, to help restore normal production and daily life as soon as possible, the commission said.

Multiple regions in Shaanxi have been hit by severe floods in recent days following heavy rainfall. The National Commission for Disaster Prevention, Reduction and Relief on Wednesday activated a Level-IV national disaster relief emergency response for the province.

China has a four-tier flood-control emergency response system, with Level I being the most severe.
