GAZA/JERUSALEM, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- The so-called "Board of Peace" said on Monday that its "high representative for Gaza" Nickolay Mladenov met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the process of decommissioning weapons in the Gaza Strip and the transition to civilian governance.
In a press statement, the board described the meeting as "constructive and detailed," noting the two sides shared an understanding of the ultimate objective of completing decommissioning of weapons in the enclave and transitioning from rule by the gun to civilian governance.
The board also denied what it called inaccurate reports on troop withdrawals, saying the withdrawal of the Israeli military beyond the "Yellow Line" would take place only after the completion of the decommissioning process, covering light weapons, heavy weapons, and tunnels.
The "Yellow Line" marks the Israeli military's withdrawal line established in the first phase of the Hamas-Israel ceasefire agreement. It demarcates areas under Israeli military control from zones where Palestinians are permitted to live and move.
According to the statement, implementation of the agreement will be overseen by an International Stabilization Force and an Implementation Verification Committee, both including representatives from the United States and the "Board of Peace."
The board added that continued progress toward full implementation depends on each side fulfilling its obligations under the agreed framework.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military said on Monday that it had killed two commanders from Hamas' armed wing, including a member of its elite Nukhba forces, as Israeli strikes in Gaza continued.
In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces said it killed Abdallah Adnan Taha Abu al-Tayf, a Nukhba force commander, in a strike in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza on Sunday, as well as Jalal Tsubeih, whom Israel identified as a commander in the Daraj Tuffah Battalion of Hamas' armed wing.■
