NEW DELHI, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- At least two fire services personnel were killed and three others injured early Tuesday after a wall and an iron beam collapsed during a firefighting operation at an electronic chip manufacturing unit on the outskirts of the Indian capital city of New Delhi, police said.

The fire broke out at the ILGIM company that manufactures PCB chips, in the Ecotech-3 industrial area of Greater Noida.

Following the incident, authorities rushed police, disaster response force personnel and fire brigade teams to the spot and launched an operation to douse the blaze.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

The risk of fires remains high across India, largely due to widespread violations of fire safety regulations and the improper storage of combustible materials.
