VIENTIANE, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- A sub-regional seminar was held in Vientiane province to strengthen digital economy cooperation and promote future economic growth among Lancang-Mekong countries, Lao News Agency reported on Monday.
Hosted by Laos' Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with support from the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund, the seminar was held recently under the theme "Enhancing Digital Economy Capacity to Drive Future Economic Growth within the Lancang-Mekong Sub-region Cooperation Framework."
Speaking at the meeting, Lao Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Maithong Thammavongsa underscored the importance of strengthening regional cooperation to accelerate digital transformation and promote sustainable economic development.
The seminar brought together government officials, business leaders, researchers and digital economy experts to exchange experiences, review progress in regional cooperation, identify regulatory gaps and explore opportunities to develop common digital standards.
Participants also discussed ways to strengthen collaboration between policymakers and digital platform providers to help micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises increase their participation in cross-border e-commerce. ■
