SANTIAGO, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Vozinha arrived in Chile on Sunday to complete his move to Colo-Colo following a series of setbacks that postponed his arrival.
The goalkeeper was met by dozens of fans and reporters after touching down at Santiago's international airport just after 8:30pm local time.
"I'm very happy to have arrived here, and I thank the fans for the patience they had in waiting for me," the 40-year-old said.
He had been due in Santiago on July 28 but his travel plans were impacted by visa processing delays and personal issues.
Vozinha, whose real name is Josimar Jose Evora Dias, is a free agent after his contract with Portuguese second-division side Chaves expired in June.
He is expected to undergo a medical on Monday before signing a six-month contract with an option to extend for another year.
Vozinha was one of the standout players of the World Cup in June and July, helping Cabo Verde reach the knockout stage at its first appearance at the tournament.
Its run ended in the round of 32, when it pushed Argentina to extra time before falling 3-2.
The veteran kept a clean sheet in his team's opening draw with eventual champion Spain before repeating the feat in the final group stage match against Saudi Arabia.
Colo Colo is currently top of Chile's top-flight standings as it seeks a 35th league title. ■
